About

Some typefaces are designed. Hans was discovered.

Legend has it that Hans has been seen lettering signs in places where signs had never existed before. He once kerned a headline so perfectly that the space between the letters applauded.

He doesn't chase trends.

Trends chase Hans.

When a designer says, “It needs something,” Hans already knows what it is. When a logo feels almost right, Hans knows which letter is lying. And when a client says, “Can we make it pop?” Hans simply adjusts the tracking and lets silence do the rest.

Hans believes typography should have a point of view.

It should walk into the room before you do.

It should know when to speak loudly, when to whisper, and when to leave a little extra space just because it can.

His work has traveled farther than most people. Across packaging, posters, identities, editorial pages, storefronts, screens, and the occasional napkin at 2 a.m., Hans has left behind the same calling card:

Good type gets noticed.
Great type gets remembered.

Nobody knows exactly where Hans learned his craft.

Some say Europe.

Some say California.

Some say he learned it from an old sign painter who lived above a bakery and accepted payment exclusively in espresso.

Hans has never confirmed any of these stories.

He simply keeps designing.

Because somewhere, right now, a headline is too tight.

A logo is too timid.

A beautiful idea is waiting for the right letters to give it a voice.

And Hans knows exactly what to do.

Hans Typography Design.

Making letters worth remembering.
